Golden Rule 9 : Avoid Building from Trimmed Edges

When possible avoid building new surfaces from a trimmed edge. Instead 'overbuild' the surfaces first, and then intersect and trim to achieve the final design:

This is because trimmed edges will typically have more CVs than 'natural' surface edges, and will create much more complex surface data.

Overbuild, intersect and trim in preference to building from a trimmed edge

Trimmed edges will have more complex parameterisation than natural edges
